Kannur Fort- St.Angelo Fort

St. Angelo Fort (Kannur Kotta) is situated in Kannur district ,kerala. It was built in 1505 bu Sir Francisco de Almeida. Later it is captured  by Dutch in 1663.They modified the fort like that what we see today. The Dutch sold the fort to king Ali Raja of Arakkal in 1772.1790 British seized it and begin to use as their military station till 1947. St Angelo Fort is an important historical monument and tourist center in kerala. This fort  is now a protected monument under Archaeological survey of India.
St. Angelo's Fort is just 3 km away from Kannur and it is facing to the beauty of Arabian Sea.There is huge wall to separate sea and fort.
